Obscurant is a project-based band that performs mid-tempo death metal with a heavy touch of melancholy and depression. The band got started as a soloproject of Luukkainen when he was doing his military service during the later half of the year 2000. When songs really started coming, Luukkainen came to the conclusion that he needed a complete line-up instead of doing everything by himself. As an outcome of this realization, a full line-up was gathered in quite short time and the things really got going. Obscurant played live two times in the autumn 2001 and due to the amazing response from the audience, the band contacted Woodcut Records to see if they had some spark of interest towards this kind of act. They did. Obscurant's debut full-length album was recorded at Sundicoop Studio in the break of March and April 2002.
