GOREFEST guitarist speaks about working with Tue Madsen

GOREFEST recently broke a seven year silence with the release of their latest Nuclear Blast record "La Muerte." The Dutch group recorded and self-produced the new album at Excess Studios, then shipped the recording to Antfarm Studios to be mixed by Tue Madsen, one of the most sought after studio wizards in heavy metal today. In a recent interview with The Gauntlet, Gorefest axe-slinger Frank Hrthoorn spoke about the band's decision to work with Madsen on the band's skull-crushing comeback.

"Producing is one thing, but mixing is just a totally different field. We heard about Tue from a lot of people. We were asking around with people who are into this kind of thing and we asked what kinds of albums they thought sounded good. Which guy do you think would be up for the job? Everyone said that Tue Madsen was one of the up-and-coming guys like Colin Richardson was twelve years ago. He gets such a clear sound. You can hear everything but it's still very heavy. It's something we always tried to aim for but never could achieve because it's pretty difficult when you downtune your guitars, like we do. The drums get drowned by the guitars, your sound gets pretty muddy. Tue has a reputation of getting it really clear. That's what he did with us and we're really happy. He did a good job of it."

"La Muerte" is available in stores now.
